With a baby, a hotel is no longer just somewhere to sleep. It is where bottles are prepared, where naps happen and where, with a bit of luck, parents find an hour to read by the pool. In the Canary Islands some places understand this very well, with clubs that take little ones from just a few months old and services designed to make travelling with a baby easy. This is our selection.
Clubs that start in the first months
In Tenerife, GF Victoria, in Costa Adeje, has age-based clubs from four months to seventeen years, plus a rooftop water park and an Adventure Park with a zip line for when older siblings want some action. In Puerto de Santiago, next to Los Gigantes, the Landmar Costa Los Gigantes Family Resort has a Baby Club from six months, a Splash Park and a pirate ship. And the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, in Playa Paraíso, adds a baby club to its Roxity Kids Club, for ages four to nine, and Teen Spirit, for ten to sixteen.
In Lanzarote, the Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel Resort, right on Playa Dorada, has a Baby Club from four months inside Capitán Park, a 10,000 m² children’s area for ages zero to sixteen. In Costa Teguise, H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens offers the Daisy Club from six months to seventeen years and a full baby kit.
Small details that make a big difference
It is not all about the club. In Fuerteventura, the Elba Sara Beach & Golf Resort, 100 metres from the beach at Caleta de Fuste, offers a Baby Kit with cot, high chair and bottle warmer. In Lanzarote, Seaside Los Jameos, facing Los Pocillos beach, has a splash area for babies, a children’s pool and 67 family rooms. In La Gomera, Hotel Jardín Tecina has an area for children aged zero to three alongside its Palmito Club for four to thirteen. And in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Bull Reina Isabel & Spa, on Las Canteras beach, offers free cots.
Heated pools for winter
The Canary Islands are a year-round destination, but in winter some pools can feel cool for a baby. That is why we look for heated ones: Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa, 300 metres from the beach at Puerto de Mogán, and La Palma Princess, in the south of La Palma, both have a children’s pool heated in winter. In Tenerife, Hotel Bitácora, in Playa de las Américas, heats its pools in winter.
