Giant slides are impressive, but what really makes a three-year-old happy is a water jet, a slide their size and a pool where their feet touch the bottom. The Canary Islands have water parks with areas designed for them and hotels with their own splash parks, so the next dip can be just steps from your room.

Siam Park, Tenerife
In Costa Adeje, Siam Park is a Thai-themed water park. For little ones, the key is The Lost City, a large children’s area with fifteen slides, plus a pool for babies and a wave beach.
Fuerteventura and Lanzarote
In Corralejo, Acua Water Park has more than fourteen attractions split into extreme, family and children’s zones, and under-threes go free. In Lanzarote, Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park has Aqua Rancho, a water area with slides and heated pools.
Hotels with their own water park
For families with young children, a hotel with a water area saves travelling and lets you get back to the room for nap time. In Fuerteventura, H10 Tindaya, in Costa Calma, has a Splash Park and two heated children’s pools. In Lanzarote, Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park has the Aquafun water park, with eight slides and two children’s pools, and Bakour Lanzarote Splash, in Puerto del Carmen, a children’s water park with a pirate ship.
In Tenerife, Landmar Costa Los Gigantes has a Splash Park and pirate ship, Iberostar Selection Anthelia three children’s pools with slides and a pirate ship, and GF Victoria a rooftop water park. In Gran Canaria, Gloria Palace Amadores has a Splash Park with slides, and Maspalomas Princess, next to the Dunes, a children’s water park. In La Gomera, Hotel Jardín Tecina has a water area with a slide.
Tips for a day at the water park
With young children, go first thing, when it is quieter, and claim a spot in the shade. Water-resistant sun cream, a sun T-shirt, a cap and plenty of water to drink.
